Headquarters - San Jose, California, USA
RPO conducts its business operations from San Jose, CA, where all front-end business activity is headquartered. Activities handled by this office include customer relations, investor relations, and strategic marketing.
R&D Facility - Canberra, Australia
RPO has extensive R&D capability in their 100 square meters of Class 100 clean-room space and 50 square meters of Class 1,000 clean-room space as well as ancillary lab space.
A wafer-based R&D line for waveguides and production enables new polymer materials to be qualified and new waveguide designs to be evaluated. This line uses standard semiconductor processing equipment. The relatively low cost and rapid availability of new masks for the wafer-based process allows low cost and rapid product development.
RPO has also established a development and manufacturing line based on large-area panel style substrates. This line utilizes standard flat-panel-display processing equipment. The panel-based process enables RPO to produce waveguides at a significantly lower cost to the more typical wafer-based processes. In addition long waveguide structures can be produced for specific applications.
RPO’s extensive chemistry R&D lab is used to undertake research and development work on new polymer materials and formulations. The lab is outfitted with pilot- and manufacturing-scale polymer production tools. These include stainless steel reaction vessels typical for semiconductor photo-resist manufacturers.
RPO has a full suite of equipment to characterize thin polymer films and waveguides. In-house product reliability and life is determined through a range of tests utilizing high temperature and humidity chambers.
Prototype Assembly Line - Sydney, Australia
RPO's pilot line for transforming waveguides into DWT touch panel is located in Sydney. This process is fully documented and can be quickly scaled with minimal capital expenditures to support high volume customer applications.
